I'm actually setting my sights on Martin Eames, an elfy-looking guy who Aurora met at college as a tourist. He seems like a ... well ... human-shaped fleshbag. I don't know a thing about him other than that he's human enough to count, where Aurora's old flame is definitely not.
So I invite him over to check him out. I find out he's a thug, he's family-oriented, and he's married to another woman. Too bad, so sad, he's mine now. A few flirty interactions later and he's head-over-heels. I let him keep his relationship for now; I can't steal him away until next Tuesday at the earliest.
The repo-man came a bit earlier in the week, taking one of my toddler books (ouch!) a trash bin, and the immobile phone. Oh well.
So anyway. Then it turns out that she wasn't able to get promoted on Monday during the day. I was afraid that meant she wouldn't get promoted at all - nope! She was on call and went in later in the evening, netting herself a lovely promotion then.
Tuesday - day ten - sees her get her final promotion.
Fantastic.
I bring Martin over and have him try for babies, but for some reason I can't get it to let them be a couple. Frustrating. Then, the next thing I know, Story Progression has put Martin back with Maeve. AGH.
So I invite him over again, do everything right, again, have him break up with her, again, and it still won't let her propose going steady, no matter how many romantic interactions I do. They're literally at 100% relationship and I still can't get it to go. So I cheated once to let her become his girlfriend. Then, it lets the relationship progress 'normally' - in that two or five flirty interactions after that, they're engaged and married. So yeah.
THEN it turns out that he was a terrible choice because he's only level 4 criminal with three days 'til elder, AND he has only 3 athletics. Gahhh useless townies. I'm keeping him around, however, so that he can serve as the elder the children need to befriend for Artist. If I can't get this taken care of one way .... mutter.
It's a pity; his lifetime wish is to become a Master Thief. He was just such a slacker in his old life that I don't think he'll be able to achieve his goals in old age.
And then the errors start popping up. Incessantly. It's roughly the same stuff that brought a halt to my last Dragon Valley challenge and forced a move to another town to fix it. Is that a missing paperkid I didn't see? Gah.
Disheartening. I might not be able to use my favorite town for this after all. Not when ... this ... keeps cropping up.
